Angouleme is a lifetime achievement for those still working in comics. This is not about leaving out women for the sake of it. There are a LOT of women in the industry doing wonderful stuff, but a LIFETIME'S worth? No. This is like going to an old classical art gallery and being outraged that there aren't more women in there. Women do deserve to be honored for their contributions, when it is appropriate. In 15 years time, if it survives this nonsense, I'm sure the list will be full of women.
just off the top of my head i have fifteen female creator names i can think of that deserve the honor. not the nomination. the full honor. but i will focus on one of my favorites…
Jill Thompson was on Sandman and won more eisners than i will ever have while i was in college
she should get it just for scary godmother.
i just complimented the hell out of her and made her feel old. i am wonderful :)
lets all list names under here to show our anonymous pal how backwards his thinking is.
Dann Thomas? Wendy Pini? And while she may not have been an Artist or writer, Virginia Romita deserves recognition for her years as Marvel’s Traffic Manager.
Oh, man. How could I forget June Brigman? And the amazing Karen Berger?

Please get rid of Nick Spencer on Captain America. Painful stuff and it is getting worse and worse.
You have been visited by Baljeet, the Failed Test. If you do not reblog within ten seconds, you will fail your finals.
too risky man
Tooooo risky
Baljeet.
Tell the truth Tom, story wise all this talk of revenge, bringing characters to justice for their crimes, etc. in Hickman's AVENGERS/NEW AVENGERS story will all be meaningless cuz they'll probably all/mostly die in SECRET WARS. So it won't make much of a difference.
I wonder if some of these anonymous posts are really by Rich Johnston. It wouldn’t surprise me.
All these people proclaiming One More Day the Worst Spider-Man Story Ever need to go back and read Maximum Clonage some time. And there's probably an even worse one that preceded that, that I myself am too young to remember.
In 2012 I was late to the comic book store and never was able to get a copy of Kelly Sue DeConnick’s Captain Marvel, Issue 1. Since then I have been looking hoping it would be tucked away somewhere and have even called around to a few places. Alas, no one had…
The shop close to me has a copy. First print. They have slapped a $20 price tag on it but I am positive I can negotiate the price down.
